Job Description

Durham County Council is seeking an experienced Allegations Management Officer (LADO) to join their Safeguarding & Professional Practice team, based at Spennymoor Green Lane Council Offices, DL16 6JQ. This is a temporary post running from 31 August to 22 November 2026, paying £35.45 per hour via Comensura.

Previous LADO experience is essential for this role.

This is a specialist statutory role responsible for carrying out Durham County Council’s duties under Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018. You will oversee and coordinate the management of allegations made against people who work with children across County Durham, providing expert advice and guidance to employers, voluntary organisations, and partner agencies on how to handle such allegations appropriately.

Key responsibilities include developing and implementing local processes and protocols for managing allegations; chairing and ensuring appropriate agency representation at Strategy Meetings; liaising with nominated officers (NOs) across partner agencies; advising on referrals to the Disclosure and Barring Service, Social Work England, and other regulatory bodies; monitoring case timelines and outcomes in line with LSCB indicative targets; collating performance data to identify trends; and designing and delivering multi-agency training in conjunction with the Durham Safeguarding Children Partnership (DSCP).
