Job Description

Wrexham County Borough Council is seeking a qualified and experienced Childrens Assistant Team Manager to join its Single Point of Access (SPOA) Team on a locum basis in Wrexham (LL13 8BG), paying £31.06–£41.58 per hour, starting 7 September 2026.

The SPOA Team serves as the first point of contact for requests relating to children and families, receiving referrals, sharing information across agencies, and investigating safeguarding concerns. As Assistant Team Manager, you will take a lead role in managing the team inbox, making timely decisions on incoming referrals and determining the local authority’s initial response. You will supervise and support social workers, review cases, decide on allocation needs, and attend Strategy Discussions and Strategy Meetings.

Knowledge of Welsh legislation, including Section 5, is essential. Candidates must hold a recognised social work qualification and be registered with Social Work Wales (or eligible to transfer registration).
