Job Description

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Childrens Assistant Team Manager to join a busy Child Protection service in Wrexham, North Wales. This is a hands-on leadership role in which you will manage a pod of Social Workers undertaking all aspects of Section 47 enquiries, assessment and intervention services, court processes, and Public Law Outline (PLO) work with families requiring services to meet their children’s needs.

Key responsibilities include the direct supervision of Social Workers within your allocated pod, covering duty on a three-weekly rotation (with a requirement to be office-based for all five days of the duty week), providing support to other duty pods, and covering management responsibilities during the Team Manager’s periods of annual leave. The role demands a confident, organised practitioner who can hold a complex caseload environment whilst supporting and developing the practitioners around them.

Candidates must hold a recognised social work qualification and be registered with Social Care Wales. Previous experience in a supervisory or assistant management capacity within a Children and Families or Child Protection setting is essential, along with a thorough working knowledge of Section 47 enquiries, PLO, and court processes.

The role is offered on a locum basis from 18 May 2026 at £33 per hour PAYE or £42 per hour via umbrella company, based at 31 Chester Street, Wrexham, LL13 8BG.
