Job Description

Liverpool City Council is seeking an experienced Childrens Advanced Practitioner to join their Permanence Team, based at Conleach Road, Liverpool (L24 0TY). This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a service undergoing significant investment, led by a high-quality senior leadership team committed to collaborative practice improvement.

You will hold a caseload focused on Children in Care and Looked After Children, with responsibilities spanning care and placement planning, risk minimisation, and securing long-term stable placements tailored to individual needs. Strong direct-work skills with children and young people are essential, alongside a sound understanding of Corporate Parenting and Children Looked After legislation and processes.

Candidates must hold a recognised social work qualification, be registered with Social Work England, and have a minimum of 3 years post-qualifying statutory social work experience. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential. Please note: candidates currently leaving a permanent social work role within the North West region must demonstrate a minimum 3-month gap before being eligible to apply.

Working pattern: 3 days on-site in Liverpool, 2 days homeworking. Rate: £40 per hour (umbrella/Ltd). Start date: 24 August 2026. Contact us today to express your interest.
