Job Description

Flintshire County Council is seeking an experienced Adults Social Worker to join their team based at Tŷ Draig, St David’s Park, Deeside, Flintshire (CH5 3FF). This is a locum role paying £25.58–£34.31 per hour via the Prism portal, with a start date of 1 September 2026.

This is a Level III experienced practitioner role within Social Services, reporting to a Senior Practitioner or Team Manager. The post holder will independently manage a complex caseload, undertaking community care and safeguarding assessments in accordance with statutory requirements, identifying risks, needs, and options. You will develop and implement outcome-focused care plans, commission value-for-money care packages, and work collaboratively with individuals, families, carers, and multidisciplinary partners to promote independence and early intervention.

The role requires confident decision-making under pressure, managing high levels of risk, safeguarding vulnerable adults, and making judgements regarding compulsory action where necessary. You will liaise with internal colleagues and external agencies, maintain accurate case records, and may be required to give court evidence. There is opportunity to pursue post-qualifying training, including Practice Assessor and Best Interest Assessor awards.

Essential requirements: a recognised social work qualification (CQSW, CSS, or DipSW), registration with Social Care Wales, and a minimum of two years’ post-qualifying experience in adults’ services. Previous experience with older people and their families is desirable.
