Job Description
Somerset Council is seeking a qualified Adults Social Worker to join their Adult Services team based in Yeovil (BA20 2HT), on an interim basis at a rate of £27.78–£38.00 per hour, commencing 22 June 2026.
You will carry a caseload of varying complexity, undertaking needs and risk assessments for adult service users and carers, developing and reviewing care plans, and working in partnership with health, housing, voluntary, and other statutory agencies. Key responsibilities include statutory reviews, safeguarding, crisis management, Court of Protection applications where appropriate, and contributing to multi-disciplinary team working — including with hospital health colleagues.
Essential requirements: a recognised Social Work qualification (BA or MA in Social Work or equivalent), current registration with Social Work England, and the ability to speak fluent English. A vehicle and valid driving licence are also essential. Experience with Learning Disabilities is desirable, as is supervisory experience.
You will demonstrate strong assessment, communication, and risk-management skills, with a commitment to promoting equality, independence, and the rights of service users.
