Job Description
Herefordshire Community Wellbeing is seeking a qualified Approved Mental Health Professional to join its experienced and supportive AMHP service in Hereford.
This is a 9–5 post (no routine out-of-hours requirement, though a well-paid OOH rota is available to those who wish to join it). The team is small, friendly and highly experienced, built around reflective practice, peer support and shared professional values. You will carry out Mental Health Act assessments across a range of client groups, working closely with mental health teams and medical colleagues. No one carries difficult decisions alone — protected supervision, regular team meetings and a lone-working device are in place, and there are genuine opportunities to work from home on triage and report-writing days.
Herefordshire invests in continuous professional development, offering specialist legal and practice training and leadership development within the service. The role sits within the beautiful county of Herefordshire at Plough Lane, Hereford, HR4 0LE.
You must hold a current AMHP warrant, be registered with Social Work England (or equivalent regulated profession), and have a minimum of one year of post-qualification AMHP practice. A strong working knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Care Act and safeguarding frameworks is essential.
