Semester Recruitment are working with Wigan Council, who are looking for an experienced Children’s Social Worker to join their Fostering and Children in Care (CIC) service.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dedicated and child-focused team, committed to achieving the best possible outcomes for children and young people in care.

🧒 What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Managing a caseload of Looked After Children

  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with children, carers, and families

  • Undertaking statutory visits, writing reports for reviews, and planning for permanency

  • Working closely with fostering teams and other agencies to ensure safe, stable placements

  • Supporting transitions, placements, and long-term planning in line with each child’s care plan

  • Attending reviews, meetings, and court as required

✅ What We’re Looking For:

  • Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration

  • Recent experience in a Children in Care or Fostering team

  • Strong knowledge of care planning, safeguarding, and statutory responsibilities

  • Confident in managing complex cases and working closely with multi-agency teams

  • Committed to promoting positive outcomes and permanency for children in care
