Please be aware this is a Long Term Temporary post to start ASAP.

This is a Recruitment and Assessment Adoption Social Worker role, within the regional adoption agency Together for Adoption . 

This position is for 4 days a week (29.6 Hours)

Together for Adoption is a Regional Adoption Agency for Wigan, Warrington, Halton, St Helens and Cheshire West and Chester local authorities. We are looking for a social worker who is experienced in fostering or adoption to play a vital role in the recruitment, assessment, and support of prospective adoptive parents. This will include engaging in the Initial and comprehensive assessments of adopters and supporting them through the approval and matching process, placement of child/ren and until the adoption order is granted. You will also have the opportunity to attend recruitment campaigns, provide a duty recruitment system, deliver Information sessions, preparation groups for adopters and additional training programmes as required. 

To build strong working relationships with Locality teams and with partner agencies to best represent the Regional Adoption Agency and children who have adoption plans. 

Provide a social work service to children and families, the service will include: 

• To take an active role in the recruitment of Adopters. 

• To deliver training to Adopters both pre and post approval 

• To undertake comprehensive assessments of prospective Adopters under stage one and two. 

• To supervise and support Adopters in meeting the needs of looked after children. 

• Assessment of need and risk. 

• Delivery of appropriate services to meet need. 

• To promote preventative childcare and social work. 

• To undertake child protection duties as directed by the Practice Manager. 

• To attend court as and when necessary. 

• To implement all aspects of childcare policy in relation to prospective adopters. 

• To act as duty officer as designated by local management. 

 

  • To provide a high-quality responsive service using all appropriate methods of social work intervention. 

  • To provide such a service within the agreed policies and procedures of the service. 

  • To be supervised for professional purposes by the Practice Manager. 

  • To participate in the service’s workload management scheme. 

  • To participate in staff/team meetings and activities as and when required. 

  • To undertake and manage a workload consisting of a variety of cases. 

  • To undertake specific projects and development work.
