Job Description
Southern Housing are seeking a Neighbourhood Services Operative to join their Estate Services team in Croydon, delivering frontline housing services across estates and neighbourhoods. This hands-on role covers litter picking, bulk and general waste clearance, and void property clearance, ensuring residents experience a clean, safe and well-maintained environment. Reporting to the Environmental Services and Transport Manager, you’ll drive to estates to collect non-domestic refuse, clear void properties, maintain health and safety standards, and proactively liaise with residents and colleagues to deliver a seamless service. You’ll also keep accurate collection records, identify waste hotspots, assist with tasks such as jet washing bin stores, and report repairs or defects in communal areas.
A valid UK driving licence with category C1 is essential, along with experience of bulk, general waste and void property clearance duties, good interpersonal skills, and the ability to work outdoors in all weathers on physically demanding tasks. Tools, machinery, uniform and PPE are provided.
