Job Description
Oldham Council is seeking an experienced Childrens Team Manager to lead frontline children’s social work teams across a broad range of statutory functions, including Duty and Assessment, Child in Need, Child Protection, Children Looked After, Pre-Proceedings, PLO, and Care Proceedings. This is a 12-month interim contract based in Oldham (OL1 1HD) at £46 per hour, starting 28 September 2026.
You will provide strong leadership, supervision, and management oversight to a team of Social Workers, Advanced Practitioners, and Support Staff. Key responsibilities include leading on complex safeguarding decisions, chairing strategy discussions and professional meetings, driving high-quality assessments and care planning, supporting staff through reflective supervision, and promoting effective multi-agency partnership working.
Candidates must hold a recognised Social Work qualification, be registered with Social Work England, and have significant post-qualifying experience within children’s social care, including experience managing or supervising staff in safeguarding services. A thorough knowledge of children’s legislation, safeguarding procedures, and statutory guidance is essential, alongside experience managing complex Child Protection, CLA, and court-related work.
