Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking an experienced Childrens Team Manager to lead the Fostering Support, Supervision and Assessments Service on an interim basis from 14 September to 2 November 2026. Based in Ashton-under-Lyne (OL6 7SG), the role attracts a rate of £46 per hour.
This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for managing a team of Supervising Social Workers and ensuring high-quality support, supervision, and assessment for foster carers and the children in their care. You will balance day-to-day operational oversight with strategic service development, driving quality assurance, performance management, and improved outcomes for children and families.
Key responsibilities include: leadership and management of fostering and children’s social care teams; foster carer support, supervision, and assessment; quality assurance, auditing, and performance management; workforce development, supervision, and coaching; safeguarding, care planning, and achieving positive outcomes for children; and strategic service development and partnership working.
Candidates must be qualified social workers registered with Social Work England, with proven experience in a fostering or children’s social care management role. Experience of DfE attributes frameworks is advantageous.
