Job Description

The London Borough of Sutton is seeking an experienced, qualified Senior Social Worker to join its SEND Family Help Service, based in Sutton (SM1 1EA). This is a locum opportunity paying £207.37–£286.27 per day, starting 1 September 2026.

The SEND Family Help Service supports children with significant disabilities and their families through a blend of social work and wider family help provision. You will hold a statutory caseload encompassing Child in Need, Child Protection, and Children Looked After, and will be required to undertake Court work — so sound legislative knowledge and courtroom experience are essential.

The team is built on restorative and trauma-informed principles, working with the whole family within robust multi-agency networks. Aligned to the Families First approach, workers maintain ongoing relationships with families and bring in additional professionals as needed. The service is ambitious and forward-looking, currently developing a co-located multi-agency SEND Family Hub and Help Service to offer families the right support at the right time.

You will be Social Work England registered with demonstrable statutory children’s experience, including SEND or children with disabilities work. Court work experience is required.
