Job Description
Vale of Glamorgan Council is recruiting an Administration & Clerical Officer to support its Adult Community Learning programme, based at Old Hall, Cowbridge. This is a varied, public-facing role combining reception, customer service, and programme administration within a busy community learning centre.
Key responsibilities include acting as the first point of contact for learners, visitors, and community groups; enrolling students onto courses; and managing day-to-day clerical duties including telephones, photocopying, and record keeping. The postholder will input enrolment data onto the MIS system, assist with learner progression tracking, monitor course viability, and maintain registers for payments, closures, transfers, and withdrawals.
Financial duties include taking cash and card payments using PCI-compliant systems (Amazon Connect and NICE XOne), banking monies, raising purchase orders and receipting goods via Oracle Fusion, processing invoices and petty cash, and reconciling the Impress account. Venue and course coordination, supporting gallery and community interest group activities at Old Hall, and producing social media content for the learning programme also form part of the role.
The successful candidate will be organised, customer-focused, and comfortable working across reception, finance, and administrative functions. Some Saturday working (every other Saturday) is required, and the postholder may be required to open and close the centre.
