Job Description

Semester Recruitment is seeking a Family Support Worker for Thurrock Council, based in Grays, Essex (RM17 6SL). This is a temporary agency role paying £18.00–£23.43 per hour via Prism, starting 8 September 2026.

The role involves direct work with children, young people, and their families within the adoption support service. Key responsibilities include coordinating and completing life story books in collaboration with birth families, adopters, foster carers, and relevant agencies. You will also promote and support Keeping in Touch arrangements for adoptive families, including letterbox and direct contact arrangements.

This is a non-qualified social care post — a formal social work qualification is not required, though experience of working with children and families in an adoption, fostering, or looked-after children context would be a strong advantage.
