Job Description

Barnet Council is seeking a Passenger Fleet Supervisor for a temporary 3-month contract based at Oakleigh Road Depot (N11 1HJ), with attendance also required at North London Business Park. The rate is £20.98–£27.35 per hour.

Reporting to the Transport Management Manager, the post-holder will oversee the day-to-day delivery of the in-house Passenger Fleet Service, supervising a Driver Team Leader and 65 drivers. Key responsibilities include route optimisation and performance monitoring, contract compliance auditing, financial reporting and processing of purchase orders, vehicle roadworthiness and licensing compliance (including DVLA, VOSA, LEZ, LOLER, and MOT requirements), and customer care including incident investigation and liaison with schools, day centres, and service commissioners.

The role also involves HR support functions — recruitment, induction, attendance management, and staff development — as well as health and safety management across the fleet operation.

Working hours are operational (06:30–19:00 Monday to Friday), with split-shift and standby cover requirements (Friday 19:00 through to Sunday). Onsite working only.

Candidates should hold a Passenger Transport Supervisor Certificate or equivalent and demonstrate practical knowledge of passenger transport legislation, fleet management systems (Chevin), and passenger transport IT systems (Mission IT). Strong communication, numeracy, and IT skills are essential.
