Job Description

Barnet Council is seeking a Passenger Fleet Supervisor for a short-term interim engagement based onsite at Oakleigh Road Depot, N11. Reporting to the Transport Management Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operation of an in-house passenger transport fleet, supervising a team of one Driver Team Leader and 65 drivers.

Key responsibilities include optimising passenger transport routes for value for money, ensuring vehicle roadworthiness and statutory compliance (including DVLA licence checks, LOLER certification, and London Emission Zone requirements), supporting financial monitoring and procurement processes, managing staff attendance and performance, and handling customer enquiries and complaints. The role requires standby cover on a 1-in-3-week rota (Friday 19:00 through Sunday) and operational hours of 06:30–19:00 Monday to Friday, including split shifts.

Essential requirements: GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths; experience in operational administration and passenger transport environments; intermediate IT skills; strong numeracy including invoicing and budget management; knowledge of passenger transport operations, regulations, and tendered contract management; health and safety awareness in a transport setting; full driving licence. A Passenger Transport Supervisor Certificate and D1 licence entitlement are desirable.
