Job Description

Semester Recruitment is seeking an experienced Adults Senior Social Worker for Lancashire County Council’s Short Term Support Service (Central), based across County Hall Preston, Royal Preston Hospital, and Chorley District Hospital. This is a locum contract running from 31 August to 30 November 2026 at £35.00 per hour.

In this role you will manage a reduced but complex caseload supporting adults across community and hospital settings, providing professional advice, supervision, and mentoring to Social Workers, Social Care Support Officers, and students. You will support the Team Manager with case progression, quality assurance, and service delivery, contribute to safeguarding, legal processes, and multi-agency working, and promote timely interventions that support independence and reduce longer-term care needs.

The successful candidate must be registered with Social Work England, hold significant post-qualifying experience, and demonstrate strong leadership and a commitment to continuous professional development. Hospital discharge experience is essential.
