Job Description
Birmingham Children’s Trust is seeking an experienced Senior Practitioner (qualified Social Worker) to provide practice leadership across the full casework cycle for children, young people, and their families. Based in Stirchley, Birmingham (B30 3BN), this is a pivotal role supporting service quality and professional development within Children’s Services.
You will hold a complex caseload requiring advanced social work knowledge, professional judgement, and expert decision-making. In addition to your direct casework responsibilities, you will act as a senior practitioner voice within the team — providing guidance, coaching, mentoring, and informal supervision to less experienced colleagues and newly qualified staff.
Key responsibilities include undertaking complex assessments and interventions, contributing to practice development and service improvement, representing the service in multi-agency forums and court proceedings, and supporting the Team Manager in maintaining high standards of practice.
Candidates must hold a recognised social work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. Previous experience in a children’s services setting at senior level is essential. The role offers £24.51–£33.29 per hour and is available from 21 September 2026 on a contract basis via Prism.
If you are a motivated Senior Social Worker ready to take on a lead practice role at Birmingham Children’s Trust, please get in touch today.
