Childrens Team Manager – Children in Care Service – #OR112077

August 18, 2026
£30 - £41 / hour

Job Description

Birmingham Children’s Trust is recruiting an experienced Team Manager to lead within its Children in Care Service, based in Aston, Birmingham (B6 4DU). This is a contract role paying £30.41–£41.42 per hour, starting 20 August 2026.

You will lead and coach a team of social workers to deliver outstanding practice for children in care and those subject to care proceedings, with a focus on achieving permanence at the earliest opportunity. Underpinning everything is a trauma-informed, relationship-based practice model — Connections Count — that places consistent, meaningful relationships with children and young people at the centre of all work.

Day-to-day responsibilities include overseeing care planning, managing team performance, disseminating service priorities, and collaborating with professionals across the Trust and partner agencies. You will be expected to create an aspirational team culture and hold your practitioners to high standards of practice.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified social worker with proven experience in children’s social care management, demonstrating strong leadership, excellent people management, resilience under pressure, and the ability to use management information systems to drive performance and quality. Experience in care proceedings and looked-after children work is essential.
