Job Description
South Tyneside Council is seeking a qualified Childrens Advanced Practitioner to join their Supporting & Strengthening Families service, based at the Town Hall, South Shields (NE33 2RL). This is a temporary contract running from 22 July 2026 to 31 December 2026.
Practitioners carry an average caseload of 17 children across a broad range of interventions. You will be responsible for undertaking actions agreed by the Practice Manager in line with established plans and local procedures. This spans all stages of the Child in Need process, all stages of the Child Protection process, implementing and reviewing care plans for Cared For Children, children assessed under the Public Law Outline, and children subject to Care Proceedings. The team retains responsibility for each child until a plan is ready to close or a permanency decision has been approved.
Candidates must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. Experience across child protection, CIN, and looked-after children is essential, and the ability to manage a varied, complex caseload to a high standard is expected at Advanced Practitioner level.
