Job Description
Barnet Council is seeking an experienced Childrens Senior Social Worker or Advanced Practitioner to join its 0-25 Disabilities service, based in Colindale, London (NW9 4EW). This is a locum role paying £27.32–£37.54 per hour via Prism, starting 1 September 2026.
Working within a Resilience framework, you will deliver a comprehensive, integrated social work service that responds at a higher level in complex situations, meeting the needs of disabled children and young people (aged 0–25) and their families within statutory timescales and the council’s statutory obligations.
Key responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating safeguarding and permanence measures in complex cases; deputising for the line manager when required; taking a lead role in a specialist area as directed; and mentoring and supporting less experienced social workers to manage higher levels of risk effectively.
You will be a qualified social worker registered with Social Work England, with substantial post-qualifying experience in a statutory Children’s Social Care setting. A Practice Educators Award is desirable; if not held, you will be expected to achieve it within your first year. Experience working with children with disabilities is essential.
If you are an autonomous, expert practitioner who thrives in complex, high-level casework and wants to make a genuine difference to disabled children and young people in Barnet, apply now.
