Job Description
Rochdale Borough Council is seeking an experienced, qualified Social Worker to join the Connected Persons Team within Rochdale’s Fostering Service. This is a 37-hour post paying £39 per hour, running from 24 August to 31 October 2026.
Kinship care sits at the heart of achieving permanency for children and young people, and this role calls for a skilled, resilient practitioner who can write robust relational assessments and engage families with curiosity and warmth. Day-to-day you will complete Connected Persons Assessments, regulation 24 and viability assessments, present at fostering panel, and provide supervision and support to kinship foster carers. Court attendance is required as needed, and the role involves some weekend and evening working on a flexible basis.
You will be part of a duty rota and will deliver carer training including Skills to Foster and Secure Base Training. The team also works alongside the No Wrong Door hub and three established Mockingbird Hubs, with all foster carers being trained in Therapeutic Parenting and PACE. Direct experience of Connected Persons assessments and fostering supervision is a strong advantage; sound knowledge of children’s legislation is essential.
In return you will receive reflective supervision, a supportive senior management structure, and a genuine commitment to work-life balance. Apply now to join a friendly, stable team at an exciting point in the service’s development.
