Job Description
Wrexham County Borough Council is seeking a highly experienced Court Social Worker to join its specialist Court Team on a temporary basis, paying £28.70–£38.43 per hour via Prism, based in Wrexham (LL13 8BG) from 17 August 2026.
This is a demanding, specialist role requiring a substantial and demonstrable track record in complex public law proceedings from commencement through to conclusion. You will manage care proceedings confidently through the Public Law Outline, produce high-quality, evidence-based statements, care plans, parenting assessments, risk assessments and viability assessments, and progress permanency planning including Care Orders, Placement Orders and adoption.
You will work collaboratively with Legal Services, Children’s Guardians and partner agencies, meeting court deadlines whilst keeping every recommendation child-focused and evidence-based. Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, case law and statutory guidance relating to children in care and court proceedings is essential, as is the ability to pick up existing proceedings at pace and demonstrate professional accountability under supervision.
Candidates must be able to evidence their court experience through employment history and professional references. Applications from social workers with only limited or occasional court experience will not be considered.
If you have proven, specialist court social work experience and are available from August 2026, please get in touch today.
