Job Description

Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking an experienced Childrens Social Worker to join the Kinship Care Team on a part-time agency basis (18.5 hours per week) from 24 August to 30 October 2026, based in Stockport (SK1 3XE) at £35 per hour.

This is a Supervising Social Worker role within Kinship Care, covering an agency post while permanent recruitment is underway. Main duties include the support and supervision of kinship foster carers, alongside participation in a Kinship Duty rota covering Regulation 24s and viability assessments.

Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years’ references, with gaps in employment history verified and relevant qualifications confirmed. Suppliers are required to complete the DfE Recommendation Compliance Questions and attach the completed file to the candidate record prior to submission — applications without this will not be progressed.
