Job Description
Somerset Council is recruiting a qualified Social Worker for its Family Front Door team, based at King Square, Bridgwater (TA6 3AR). This is a pivotal front-line role within the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH), sitting at the interface between families, partner agencies and Children’s Social Care.
You will triage and analyse incoming referrals, gathering and evaluating information to produce clear, evidence-based recommendations. This includes referrals under Section 17 (Children in Need) and Section 47 (Children Act) where immediate harm is identified. All practitioners are office-based for their triage and assessment work.
Key responsibilities include: triaging acute referrals from professionals and families; conducting professional assessments and making proportionate recommendations; participating in MASH multi-agency discussions; maintaining a thorough understanding of Early Help Services in Somerset; and managing complex, frequently changing situations within tight timeframes.
Candidates must be a qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England, with strong assessment and analytical skills, sound knowledge of child protection legislation, and the ability to manage risk and prioritise need quickly.
