Join Gateshead Council’s award-winning Kinship Care Team as an Assistant Team Manager, championing stability and permanence for children within their extended family networks.
In this senior leadership role, you will assist in managing a dedicated team, driving performance and ensuring high-quality, timely assessments for kinship carers. You will provide reflective supervision to practitioners, champion continuous improvement, and act as Agency Advisor to the Kinship Care Fostering/Permanence Panel. Responsibilities include chairing planning and strategy meetings, preparing court reports, managing safeguarding risk, and deputising for the Practice Lead when required.

To be considered, you must hold a Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. You will need extensive children’s social work experience including child protection and children in care, proven supervisory or management experience, strong knowledge of fostering standards, trauma-informed and systemic practice, and experience conducting complex assessments. A current driving licence is required.
