Job Description

Barnsley’s Children and Young People’s Service is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join their team based at the Cudworth Lift Building, Barnsley (S72 8SU). This is a temporary role running from 3 August to 26 October 2026, paying £35 per hour.

This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference for children and families across Barnsley. You will hold a caseload spanning children in need, child protection, and children subject to public and private law proceedings, working to achieve positive, lasting outcomes for young people and their families.

The successful candidate will be a qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England, with demonstrable experience across CIN, CP, and court work within a children’s statutory setting. You will be confident working within a fast-paced environment, managing complex casework, and contributing to a service committed to high standards of practice.
