Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for a qualified Children’s Social Worker to join Vale of Glamorgan Council, based in Barry (CF63 1NH). This is a locum position paying £228.75–£301.06 per day, starting 20 July 2026.

You will provide a consistent, quality service to children, young people, families, and carers, delivering strength-based practice and working in partnership with professionals and agencies across sectors. Key responsibilities include undertaking assessments of need and risk, planning and reviewing cases, managing a professional caseload, attending meetings and court hearings, and producing reports and verbal evidence to a high standard.

You will maintain accurate records on WCCIS, contribute to team service planning, support the Team Manager in meeting performance targets, and promote good practice across the team. Registration with Social Care Wales is required, along with a commitment to continuous professional development.
