Job Description
An exciting opportunity for an experienced Adults Social Worker to join one of Newport City Council’s four NCN Managed Care Teams, based at Newport’s Civic Centre and working across the community of Newport.
You will carry a caseload of adults of all ages, undertaking strengths-based assessments in line with the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act (SSWBA), conducting reviews and short-term pieces of work aimed at maximising independence and well-being. Clients are supported in their own homes, residential and nursing placements, and supported living settings. The teams work collaboratively with older adult mental health teams, learning disability services, and physical disability services.
Key responsibilities include managing a caseload, ensuring documentation and electronic records are accurate, completing risk assessments, and working alongside families, carers, and partner organisations.
The ideal candidate will have statutory managed care experience and demonstrate strengths-based assessment skills, strong written work, effective communication, time management, and flexibility. A driving licence is required, as the role may involve five days per week on-site in Newport depending on service need.
This is a locum role with Newport City Council paying £21.65–£28.90 per hour, starting 27 July 2026. To find out more or to be considered, please get in touch today.
