Job Description
Leeds City Council is seeking a Safeguarding and Reviewing Officer to undertake child protection conference chairing across Leeds, starting 13 July 2026 on a short-term assignment to 26 July 2026 at £25.54 per hour.
In this role you will chair Initial and Review Child Protection Conferences (ICPCs and RCPCs) on behalf of the safeguarding children’s board, ensuring that children’s wishes and feelings are represented throughout. You will facilitate attendance of parents and, where appropriate, extended family members, and liaise with operational staff to support effective conference delivery.
Alongside chairing duties, you will contribute to quality assurance and performance monitoring — participating in attendance-monitoring systems, collating information from reviews and conferences relating to policy, practice, resources and inter-agency participation, and contributing to monitoring reports submitted to senior management.
Initial child protection conferences are held in person at council offices across Leeds; Review CPCs can be held virtually. The role therefore involves in-person attendance with some hybrid/remote working when not in conference. The base is Belle Isle Centre, Enterprise Way, Middleton Road, Leeds, LS10 3DZ.
Applicants must hold a recognised social work qualification and be registered with Social Work England, with demonstrable experience of chairing child protection conferences. If you are available and interested, please get in touch promptly given the short assignment window.
