Job Description

Liverpool City Council is seeking an experienced SEND Caseworker for an immediate interim contract based in Liverpool, L24 0TY. Paying £300 per day (Ltd status) for a 35-hour week (7 hours per day), with a minimum of 2 days per week on site.

This role sits within the SEND statutory assessment service, coordinating Education, Health and Care (EHC) planning processes from initial assessment through to placement and annual review. You will support schools, settings, SENCos, and head teachers in applying the graduated approach to meeting pupils’ needs, ensuring all statutory timescales under the Children and Families Act 2014 are met.

Key responsibilities include managing a caseload of EHC plans for a specific group of schools and settings, attending annual reviews for particularly vulnerable pupils (including Looked After Children and those at risk of exclusion), and working closely with colleagues across SENISS, Occupational Therapy, Educational Psychology, and Children’s and Adult Social Care to deliver a robust multi-agency approach.

Candidates should have recent experience as a SEND Caseworker or in a similar SEND/Children’s Services role, strong working knowledge of the Children and Families Act 2014 and associated SEND legislation, and demonstrable experience facilitating review meetings and working in partnership with families and multi-agency teams. Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office are required.
