Job Description
Blackpool Council is seeking five experienced Childrens Social Workers to join its Blackpool Families Services (BFS) Teams on a temporary basis from 27 July to 30 September 2026, based at Talbot Gateway, Blackpool, FY1 3AH. The rate is £39 per hour for 37 hours per week.
Blackpool Children’s Services places families at the heart of its practice, working alongside children and families using a strengths-based approach, building trusted relationships, and managing formal intervention at the lowest appropriate level. You will carry a caseload spanning pre-birth assessments, child protection, complex child in need, and PLO/pre-proceedings work, producing high-quality court statements and assessments. Alongside your direct caseload, you will support the team manager by mentoring and coaching less experienced colleagues, acting as a professional role model and creating reflective learning opportunities.
Candidates must hold a recognised social work qualification, be registered with Social Work England, and be able to demonstrate substantial post-qualifying experience across child protection and complex CIN work. A five-year employment reference history will be required, and any gaps in employment will be checked.
Blackpool is well connected via the M55/M6 corridor and Blackpool North rail station, with secure town-centre parking available. If you are passionate about improving outcomes for children and families and ready to lead by example, please get in touch.
