Job Description

Semester Recruitment is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join the Fostering Recruitment and Assessment Team at Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, based at Head Office, TS17 6BJ. This is a rewarding role at the heart of securing safe, stable placements for children and young people across the borough.

You will undertake comprehensive fostering assessments of mainstream fostering applicants and kinship carers, including special guardianship assessments. Responsibilities include preparing Court reports and attending Court hearings, attending Fostering Panel, supervising approved foster carers and kinship carers, and facilitating training for fostering applicants and approved carers. You will also contribute to recruitment and marketing activities to support foster carer sufficiency, and must be able to travel to complete assessments for families living outside the area.

The role demands the ability to manage a varied workload within tight legislative timescales. Experience in fostering assessments — particularly kinship and special guardianship — is essential.

Social Work England registration is required. The post is offered on a locum basis at £31.74 per hour via Comensura, starting 20 July 2026.
