Job Description
Tameside Neighbourhood Social Work Services are seeking experienced Children’s Social Workers to join their Duty, Assessment and Safeguarding teams in Ashton-Under-Lyne. This is a temporary role running from 20 July to 30 September 2026, paying £20.58–£39 per hour via XMS.
You will carry a mixed caseload spanning both public and private law proceedings and child protection planning. Tameside’s ‘Heart of Support’ practice model places children and young people at the centre, and they are looking for enthusiastic, relational practitioners who can work restoratively and bring a genuine commitment to achieving better outcomes for children and families.
Key responsibilities include managing court work across public and private law, leading on child protection planning, and contributing to Tameside’s ongoing improvement plan. The role is primarily office-based at Tameside One, Market Place, Ashton-Under-Lyne, with some home-working flexibility subject to Team Manager agreement. Five-day working over contracted hours is preferred.
You will be supported by an experienced Team Manager and a committed permanent senior leadership team. Five years’ references and full employment history checks are required, along with relevant qualifications as per the Job Description and Person Specification.
Note: Suppliers must complete the GM Pledge Compliance Attributes Questions (attached) and add the file to the candidate record before submission. Applications without this will not progress.
