Job Description

Powys County Council is seeking a Data Quality Assistant to join its Pensions service, based at County Hall, Llandrindod Wells. This is a flexible, agile-working position (37 hours per week) offering the opportunity to include home working. The role sits within the Finance directorate and reports to the Senior Pension Officer.

You will be responsible for maintaining accurate member data within the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS), cross-referencing and matching employer and pension-held records, and manipulating data between systems. Key duties include checking applications for payment of benefits, transfers and aggregations; calculating Final Salary and Career Average Revalued Earnings scheme member benefits; processing McCloud underpin protections; and ensuring timely issue of documentation to leavers in line with disclosure regulations.

The ideal candidate will have strong IT skills including MS Office, MS365, and particularly Excel; experience of moving data accurately between systems; and ideally familiarity with the Altair Pensions System or equivalent software. A basic working knowledge of LGPS regulations is desirable. Candidates must hold five GCSEs including Maths and English (or NVQ/QCF Level 2 equivalent). Welsh language skills are desirable. A Standard DBS check and BPSS check are required.
