Job Description
An exciting locum opportunity has arisen with Durham County Council for a Childrens Advanced Practitioner to undertake high-quality, court-ordered assessments within Children and Families Services. Based at Seaham Contact Centre (SR7 7JE), this is a non-case holding role focused solely on delivering robust assessment work to support judicial decision-making.
You will complete comprehensive court-directed assessments including parenting assessments, sibling assessments, and risk and safeguarding evaluations, utilising structured tools such as Parent Assess where appropriate. You will gather and critically analyse information from direct work with children and families, professional networks, and case records, producing clear, analytical, court-compliant reports within agreed timescales. The role requires attendance at court and close collaboration with legal services, social work teams, and partner agencies whilst maintaining independence in assessment.
Applicants must be a Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration and have significant experience in Children and Families Services, particularly in court proceedings and assessment work. Strong analytical and report-writing skills are essential, and experience of Parent Assess is preferred.
