Job Description
Knowsley Borough Council is seeking a Qualified Social Worker to join its Looked After Service, working within the Young Persons Team supporting children in care aged 14–18. Based at Westmorland Road, Huyton, this is a demanding and fast-paced role requiring a strong relational practice approach underpinned by robust risk management and contextual safeguarding.
You will hold a caseload of looked-after young people aged 14–18, developing and reviewing care plans that reflect individual needs, risks, strengths, and aspirations. You will lead on pathway planning as young people approach adulthood, work collaboratively with Leaving Care services, and engage meaningfully in direct work to promote emotional wellbeing, identity, resilience, and independence.
The role requires confident identification and management of safeguarding risks including exploitation, missing episodes, offending behaviour, and mental health concerns, applying contextual safeguarding frameworks that look beyond the family home. You will contribute to multi-agency forums, prepare analytical court and review reports, and ensure all case recording meets statutory standards.
Candidates must be Qualified Social Workers registered with Social Work England, with demonstrable experience working with adolescents in complex, high-risk contexts. A trauma-informed, relationship-based practice style is essential, alongside strong analytical and report-writing skills and the resilience to manage competing priorities in a pressured environment.
Rate: £23.75–£31.15 per hour. Start date: 6 July 2026. Contact us today to find out more or to submit your details.
