Childrens Social Worker – Child in Need / Child Protection Service – #5296548

Job Description

Cheshire East Council is recruiting up to four Social Workers to join its Child in Need and Child Protection Service, based at Floor 2, Macclesfield Town Hall, SK10 1EA. Three posts cover maternity leave (minimum six months) and one covers long-term sickness (initially three months, with potential to extend). Start date: 18 May 2026. Rate: £39.00 per hour.

You will join a team of five Social Workers and one Family Support Worker, managed by a Team Manager, within a service comprising five Social Work Teams. The role spans the full continuum from initial referral through assessment, Child in Need, Child Protection, pre-proceedings, and the issuing of care proceedings. Each team takes duty approximately one day per week on a rota, and all team members are expected to participate on their duty day.

Workers are expected to be office-based a minimum of three days per week. An Enhanced DBS check including the Children’s Barred List is required.

To be considered you must be a qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England and have demonstrable experience in children’s statutory social work. If you are available and interested, please get in touch promptly.
