Job Description

Bromley Council is seeking an experienced Locum Adults Social Worker to support residents of an Extra Care Housing scheme through a significant period of service transition. Initially a 3-month project with potential extension to 6 months, this role sits at the intersection of adult social care, housing, and commissioning.

You will undertake Care Act-compliant needs assessments and reviews, ensuring that care and support plans are revised to reflect the changing accommodation model. Working collaboratively with housing providers, incoming and outgoing care providers, commissioners, and health professionals, you will safeguard continuity of care and manage risks arising from the transition. Mental Capacity Assessments and Best Interest decision-making will also form part of your caseload.

The successful candidate must be a qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England, with recent experience in adult social care — ideally with older people and/or housing-based services. Strong working knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and safeguarding duties is essential, alongside the confidence to work autonomously within a complex, change-focused environment.

Experience of service transitions, provider handovers, or partnership working with housing providers is desirable.

Rate: £24.51 – £32.00 per hour. Start date: 26 May 2026, based at Churchill Court, Bromley BR1 1AS.
