Job Description

Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking a qualified Occupational Therapist to join its Occupational Therapy & Sensory Team based in Bootle, Merseyside (L20 3NJ). This is a locum role paying £206.24–£272.46 per day via Prism, starting 1 July 2026.

Working within a multidisciplinary framework, you will deliver holistic, person-centred assessments for adults living with physical or psychological disabilities, supporting independence and daily living within clients’ own homes. Key responsibilities include functional assessments of self-care, mobility, and home and social life; prescribing and reviewing community equipment; assessing needs for major and minor adaptations including Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) work; and moving and handling/single-handed care assessments. You will liaise with the Home Improvements Service, landlords, architects, and building contractors to facilitate appropriate adaptations.

You will lone-work across the borough, accountable to Lead Practitioners and the Team Manager, and will maintain accurate, up-to-date records in line with Data Protection legislation and HCPC standards.

Mandatory experience required: assessment of major and minor adaptations with clear knowledge of DFG legislation; moving and handling and single-handed care assessment. HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist is essential.
