Job Description

Swindon Borough Council is seeking experienced Social Workers to join its Family Safeguarding Service on a locum basis, based at Civic Campus, Euclid Street, Swindon, SN1 2JG. Paying £31.25–£42.02 per hour, with a start date of 1 June 2026.

The team operates within a pod structure, with five Social Workers and one Manager per pod, providing strong management oversight and peer support. You will undertake comprehensive assessments including parenting assessments, develop outcome-focused care plans, and manage care proceedings in both private and public law. You will work to achieve permanency for children — including adoption — within court timescales, and provide rigorous analytical recording of your interventions with children and families.

Candidates residing more than 50 miles from Swindon may claim a flat rate of £100 per week towards accommodation or mileage expenses.
