Job Description

Are you a qualified Social Worker with experience of supporting older people living with dementia? Newcastle City Council is seeking a dedicated Adults Social Worker to join the team based at Byker Lodge Resource Centre, NE6 2AT.

In this role you will work directly with older people who have dementia, carrying out assessments, care planning, and reviews to support individuals in maintaining their independence and quality of life. You will work within a multi-disciplinary environment, collaborating with health colleagues, carers, and community partners to ensure holistic, person-centred outcomes.

Key responsibilities will include completing Care Act assessments, managing a caseload of older adults with dementia, liaising with families and carers, and contributing to safeguarding processes where required.

The successful candidate will hold a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. Previous experience working with older people or in a dementia-specific setting is highly desirable. Strong assessment skills and the ability to work effectively under supervision and as part of a team are essential.

This is a locum opportunity paying £27.56 per hour, available from 10th May 2026, based on-site at Byker Lodge Resource Centre in Newcastle upon Tyne (NE6 2AT).
