Occupational Therapist – Adult Services Occupational Therapy and Specialist Assessment Team – #OR101400

May 5, 2026
£27 - £36 / hour

Job Description

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior Occupational Therapist to join the Adult Services Occupational Therapy and Specialist Assessment Team at Vale of Glamorgan Council, based at Civic Offices, Barry. This is a meaningful role at the heart of adult social care, focused on promoting independence, social inclusion, and safe care for adults with complex needs.

Working within an interdisciplinary setting, you will carry out OT assessments, interventions, and evaluations for adults primarily presenting with physical disabilities, sensory impairment, and/or learning disabilities. Your caseload will include assessing for aids to independence, major and minor adaptation works, and manual handling assessments — all contributing to keeping people at home for longer and reducing dependence on care packages.

Key responsibilities include liaising with NHS colleagues, GPs, primary health care teams, and voluntary organisations; supervising junior staff, OT assistants, and students; maintaining accurate case records on the Council’s data management system; and contributing to the development of adult services across the Vale of Glamorgan.

Candidates must hold a recognised Occupational Therapy qualification and be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Experience in adult social care OT, particularly with complex needs, adaptations, and multi-agency working, is essential. The role offers a competitive hourly rate of £27.39–£35.88 and is available from 11 May 2026.

If you are a motivated and experienced OT seeking a rewarding community-based position in South Wales, we would love to hear from you. Apply today.
