*Childrens Social Worker – Children with Disabilities Team – #OR101316

May 1, 2026
£28 - £38 / hour

Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Childrens Social Worker to join Swindon Borough Council’s specialist Children with Disabilities Team, based at the Civic Campus, Swindon.

This is a bespoke, purpose-built service that recognises disabled children are at heightened risk of abuse compared to their non-disabled peers. The team is co-located at the Saltway Centre alongside multi-agency partners, enabling a truly holistic approach to supporting disabled children, young people, and their families across Swindon.

You will work within a highly motivated, specialist team of social workers with expertise in both safeguarding and disability, using current research and innovative practice to ensure disabled children are appropriately safeguarded and supported to achieve their full potential.

Key responsibilities include safeguarding assessments, direct work with disabled children and their families, multi-agency collaboration, and supporting children to achieve their potential through specialist intervention.

Candidates must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. Experience in children with disabilities, safeguarding, and working alongside multi-agency partners is essential.

The role offers a competitive hourly rate of £28.28–£38.02, with an additional flat-rate payment of £100 per week available to candidates residing 50 or more miles from Swindon, to contribute towards accommodation or travel costs.

If you are a committed, experienced children’s social worker with a passion for disability and safeguarding, we would love to hear from you. Apply today to make a real difference to some of Swindon’s most vulnerable children.
