Job Description

Are you a dedicated Childrens Social Worker ready to make a meaningful difference to the lives of children and young people in the North East? We have an exciting locum opportunity based at Quadrant East, NE27 0BY, offering a competitive rate of £34.45 per hour.

Working within the Children’s Social Care team, you will hold a varied caseload and provide statutory social work intervention to children and families in need of support and protection. Your responsibilities will include undertaking assessments, child protection enquiries, care planning, and court proceedings as required, ensuring the best outcomes for children at risk or in need.

You will work as part of a committed multi-disciplinary team, contributing to robust safeguarding practice and maintaining thorough, accurate case records in line with local authority procedures and statutory guidance.

To be considered for this role, you must hold a recognised Social Work qualification (BA/MA Social Work or equivalent), be registered with Social Work England, and have demonstrable post-qualifying experience within children’s services. Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to manage a complex caseload are essential.

This is a locum position available from 13 April 2026, with no set end date, offering an excellent opportunity to develop your practice in a supportive environment.
