Job Description

An experienced Housing Allocations Team Manager is sought for a interim assignment based in Slough (SL1 2EJ), offering a competitive day rate of £258.72–£349.24. This is an immediate start from 4 May 2026.

In this pivotal role you will lead a team of allocators and assessors responsible for maintaining the housing register and ensuring all assessments comply with Part VI of the Housing Act 1996 and the Council’s housing allocations scheme. You will drive the timely allocation of social housing through choice-based lettings and act as the subject matter expert on housing allocations across the authority.

Key responsibilities include managing and developing the allocations team, overseeing performance management and monitoring, and building effective nominations relationships with registered providers. You will take the lead on updating the housing allocations scheme — including committee governance — and implementing policy changes encompassing IT system upgrades. The role also demands the ability to make sound, exceptional assessment decisions under pressure.

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical knowledge of Part VI of the Housing Act 1996, demonstrable experience of housing allocations scheme development, and proven skills in report and policy writing, project management, and the use of housing management systems.
