The Education Welfare Offcier is required to offer a quality provision to children, their families and schools. The post helps to meet the aim of the service which is to enable pupils to attend school so they can benefit from the educational opportunities available and support families to resolve any problems of non attendance. Duies include: regular contact with pastoral staff in schools for the purpose of individual referrals in relaton to non-attendance at school; work closely with scholols in response to school attednacne problems; visit pupils homes to ascertain the reasons for non-attednance at school; provide and encourage regular school attendacne ina all discussions with pupils and parents; maitian records of contcat with pupils and their familie using the electronic Child Suport Sysytem bsed at the LEA; to attend court in relation to the prosecution for school non-attendacne; etc.
