We currently have an exciting vacancy within our team to enable us to continue to build on our success and also bring new experience, knowledge and ideas into the team.

Our team is the Complex Needs (children social care); a 0-18 social work team for children with learning disabilities, life limiting conditions or other complex needs. We are a fast paced team where you will be required to deploy all your social work and leadership experience across child in need, child protection, court work and CLA for this vulnerable cohort.

The work is interesting and complex but we are co-located with a fantastic Complex Needs multi agency service of social workers, health (clinical and nursing) colleagues and short break team. Our EHCP team are on the floor above us and the adult team across the office
Work with children with disabilities is a rapidly evolving and challenging area of work but it is also at the cutting edge of service innovation and has an exciting future in Trafford.

About you

We are not expecting you do have a deep knowledge of disability services to apply for this post but you will have experience in either CIN, CP or CLA as all these pathways are part of our children’s journey. We will provide you with the necessary support and training in the disability related aspects. We are seeking someone who can provide strong leadership, commitment to learning on the job and open to a challenge.

About the Role

As team leader of the social work team you will oversee the development and implementation of child in need, child protection and children looked after plans that are designed to provide meaningful choice and support to those in need of care and support.

You’ll also be able to demonstrate experience in managing and developing staff, alongside leadership abilities and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will have experience of managing performance returns and providing clear lines of sight for leadership on the issues and decisions affecting our young people.

As well as leading the social work team you will also provide oversight of the short break team and may provide supervision and decision making to young people, families and carers accessing the short breaks pathway when the senior practitioner is not available.

You must have:

  • A professional qualification in social work and experience of working with Children's
  • Social Work England registration.
  • Post qualified experience.
  • Enhanced DBS/Update service.
  • References required for the last 5 years of employment.
