Job Description
An opportunity has risen for a qualified Social Worker to join the Safeguarding and Review Unit as an Child Protection Chair.
The Safeguarding and Review Unit has an experienced and knowledgeable team of professionals that chair Child Protection Conferences, Child in Care Reviews, LADO and Foster Carer Reviews within Wakefield. The service works closely with internal and external partners to support the achievement of positive outcomes for children and young people in their journey through statutory services in Wakefield.
As a team we are working to develop a culture of restorative practice both within the team and with the families we work with. This is an opportunity to be an influencer, influencing social work practice through supportive links with teams and collaborative quality assurance and audit work with social workers.

Child Protection Conference chair – initial conference , review, supervision orders revies and meetings
Suitability checks for foster carers etc
Mainly office based as the conferences are face to face bar the odd one
Majority are at 5 towns – across the road from the train station
Based in Castleford
Run 2 conferences a day, and could have 4 in a morning and 4 in the afternoon
Working day would need to be in the office at least 9am
If there isnt a conference they can work form home for write up but a lot of the work would be office bases
Sometimes the conferences are off site so would need to be able to get there – car driver ideally
Would consider someone part time – 4 days a week
Run a duty system and would they be doing duty and not doing any conferences that day unless another CP chair rang in sick
Only for 3 months at the moment due to covering sickness
Would consider someone with experience in wanting to chair and looking to move up
